Immersion Tours

IT 25 - HMS student_edited.jpg

The Immersion Tours provide scholarship recipients with two annual weekend experiences to learn about career opportunities in motorsports. The inaugural Immersion Tour was held in the fall of 2023 just outside Charlotte, NC in concert with NASCAR’s race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Additional race weekend Immersion Tours have occurred every year since 2023. In 2024, a spring Immersion Tour to Michigan was added to visit General Motors facilities and operations.

In NC, scholarship winners have spent dedicated time at the General Motors Technical Center, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Hendrick Motorsports, Trackhouse Racing, UNC Charlotte's Alan Kulwicki Motorsports Lab, NHRA team and technical operations and the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Michigan stops have included GM’s Performance and Racing Centr (Pontiac), its Milford Proving Ground, Martin International Technologies and Pratt Miller. The NC tour focus is on motorsports, while the Michigan locations offer the breadth of GM’s customer automotive development.

The foundation’s fall Immersion Tour in 2026 is scheduled for IMSA’s race weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The thing I really loved about this experience is you get to see the reality and talk to actual people who are in the industry. Not just emails or hearing from a third party. It’s hands-on and face-to-face.
